Welcome to The A-Z of Musical Instruments
Welcome to the A to Z of musical instruments, your resource for information about all manner of musical instruments from tubas to oboes, from penny whistles to Gibson & Fender electric guitars, we hope to cover virtually every musical instrument, and yes, even a few of the amazing virtual instruments which are now available for sequencers such as Cubase and Pro Tools.
While today's modern instruments are often technological miracles it is surprising how, even these, can look to the past and our rich musical heritage, for inspiration. While some virtual instruments attempt to master the finer resonances of a specific grand piano others focus on replicating the more unusual sounds of an analogue synthesizer by Roland, Korg or maybe one of the few American and British classics.
From man's very early days in the cave it can be imagined that groups of people banged out tunes on the most primitive instruments made out of hollow tree trunks and animal bones. As our societies developed so did our taste for music and the arts and throughout history we can see the development of the musical instrument from these basics to our modern, highly crafted and finely tuned, works of artistic craftsmanship.
While we plan to include information about some, or possibly all, of the classic musical instruments found in an orchestra we will, initially, be including information of those instruments which are most popular such as guitars, drum kits and electronic keyboards and modules.
We hope that you enjoy your visit to the A-Z of Musical Instruments and we hope to see you here again soon when we will have added much more, highly interesting, information about the world of music and musical instruments. |
