The type of guitar matters a lot. There are three types of guitar available: classical, electric and acoustic. Although acoustic is considered to be the most versatile, it might not be the right choice if you are a beginner. You can master the basics at playing guitar if you learn properly and with complete dedication. The acoustic guitar normally has steel strings with a hollow body. The body is made of wood. You do not need an amp to play this instrument, although you could if you really wanted too. Some acoustic guitars even involve the use of a pickup. An acoustic-electric guitar is a guitar that comes with a pickup. You can have other accessories too if you wish, but this is the norm. If your acoustic doesn't have any pickup on it, you can get an after-market one for around sixty dollars. Acoustic guitars vary a little bit from their classical counterparts in the material of the strings. Classical guitars will have nylon strings and are used mainly for classical music. You will also see the odd finger picking song from time to time though. If you want a guitar that everyone is familiar with, you will go with an electric guitar. These come with steel strings and a plastic body which isn't hollow. They also require an amplifier to play properly, for there is little to no sound without an amp. You may even want to add accessories such as an effects pedal to produce unique sounds. When choosing a guitar you should also keep in mind the quality, material, length and size, frets, neck and many more things. A good quality guitar will not only produce good quality sounds but also helps in learning easily and quickly. You can also buy accessories such as medium picks or a capo, used for changing guitar keys. This will also help you in producing different sounds and learning guitar but make sure all those accessories fits your guitar perfectly. After you successfully buy a guitar you should focus on learning to play it. You can learn guitar using a number of ways i.e. online lessons, lessons from a nearby music school or even DVD's. Learning to play a guitar can be easy and simple job if you are willing to learn it with all your heart and let it become your favorite time pass during leisure time.
