Be careful when employing this form of business, you may not realize when you are dealing with a dishonest person selling an instrument in poor condition. Woodwind instruments value can be determined through several different categories, all of which hold the condition of the instrument in regard. The basic grading system is as follows: as new, excellent, good, fair, poor, and lamp material. As new is the best of the best when it comes to rankings. This means that the instrument looks and sounds the same as it did when first purchased by the original owner. These instruments can be compared to those that have just come out of the factory and be no worse for ware. Good ranking instruments are those that show a few minor flaws and some slight blemishing. Fair shows a substantial amount of wear, but can still be played with little effect on the sound.
